Don says: I have been photographing bluebirds in and near my home town for several years, and was excited when a pair of Eastern Bluebirds decided to nest again near my home. I watched and photographed the adults during their courtship, and nest building. It had been over two weeks since the adults had been bringing food to the nest, so I knew the young were getting ready to fledge. I sat in my blind for the better part of two days watching and photographing as the adults brought back several different kinds of bugs, and occasionally berries, to their nestlings. Although I got several really nice shots, this is the one I had tried to get for several years. I love the photo because of the interaction between the adult and nestling.
