Jenaya says: Another photo from my Yukon/Alaska trip. My dad and I were on our way to an area we heard was good for bears when we spotted something in the bushes. Suddenly there were 3 somethings. Grizzly Bear cubs! We got the photo gear ready and started happily photographing. The 3 cubs started meandering around the beach in search for food. We started wondering where the mom was, but she was nowhere to be seen, and the cubs had covered enough distance that we surely should've seen the mom. It didn't take us long to realize that they were orphans. One of them was quite a bit smaller than the other two (I called that one Skagway and the two bigger ones Haines and Klondike). One of the bigger cubs found a dead fish laying on the sand and took a few bites before bringing it to the smaller one to finish off. It was amazing watching them take care of eachother like that. After their snack they decided to go back into the bushes, but the one I call Haines decided to lay down and rest his head on a branch for a little rest. That's when I got this photo. Someday I hope to go back to Alaska and find more Grizzlies to photograph. I sure hope these triplets made it.
