Patricia says: This big cub was still with her mother who has raised all her cubs very near the road, feeling that is safer than the dangers and the boars farther out. The Park Rangers in Yellowstone National Park know her well and monitor the situation. The cub and her mother were moving at a good pace behind a ridge and sighting were spotty. I had my 500mm on a tripod and kept hefting that bazooka on my shoulder (bruises on my shoulder later!) as our small group followed her from a distance. Finally, for a brief moment, the cub appeared and sat in the wildflowers and I grabbed this shot. I love it because she looks so relaxed and peaceful, especially the look in her eyes.
